Home - Affect Control Theory at UGA

Affect control theory is a computational theory of culturally embedded social interaction. ACT and its related theories make testable predictions about behavior, emotion, self-meanings, and social interpretation in the context of interpersonal interaction.

This website functions as a resource page for engagement in research using Affect Control Theory (ACT). You will find data, methodology, and resources developed for and by the Affect Control Theory community of researchers and educators. We invite you to explore!

This site duplicates some material from David Heise's ACT site at Indiana University, with permission. That original site has been archived and preserved by Jesse Hoey at the University of Waterloo and can be accessed here. This page has a sister site affectcontroltheory.org that has additional ACT resources.

If you have any questions, please reach out to website manager Madeline Williams at MRWilliams@uga.edu.

ACTNET

ACTNET is a listserv for affect control theory researchers. The list provides an opportunity for members to participate in discussions and post announcements of potential interest to those studying, teaching, and researching affect control theory. Please contact Dawn T Robinson or Madeline Williams to request access to the listserv.
