Affect control theory is a computational theory of culturally embedded social interaction. ACT and its related theories make testable predictions about behavior, emotion, self-meanings, and social interpretation in the context of interpersonal interaction. This website functions as a resource page for engagement in research using Affect Control Theory (ACT). You will find data, methodology, and resources developed for and by the Affect Control Theory community of researchers and educators. We invite you to explore! That original site has been archived and preserved by Jesse Hoey at the University of Waterloo and can be accessed here.
